Malicious malware weaponizes unprotected IoT and other poorly protected connected devices to form botnets that send malicious traffic through unsuspecting amplifiers that overwhelm the target victim. Identifying potential weapons, bots and amplifiers is the first step in creating effective DDoS defenses.
